Toshiaki Toyoda's Yomigaeri no Chi 「蘇りの血」

This (first) picture makes it pretty obvious, that Toyoda's new film will be Jidai Geki.
Personally, I, and I think alot of other people too, have been hoping for a modernized adaption of the Oguri Hangan-tale, but it's good to know that this goddamn genius is finally back in the chair.

Now, let's keep our fingers crossed that his next film will finally be the Bosozoku-project he has
been working on prior to his ridicioulus arrest and black-listing.

Moments of classiness

One of my all time favorites is the lovely Akina Nakamori (中森明菜).
Check out some of these great stage designs below.

The life & death of Yusaku Matsuda in five parts

When a guy like Rikiya Yasuoka breaks down crying in front of a dozen cameras and Yuya Uchida puts a black cloth around his head, you know not just any person has died, but one of the greatest.

I can only imagine what an impact his death must have had on people growing up watching his work.

The shot of 6-year-old Ryuhei Matsuda standing right next to his dead father's picture is a moment of breathtaking symbolism, knowing how great he would handle his dad's heritage just a decade later on . (Still waiting for Shota's real breaktrough).

A heartbreaking report (japanese only) on the life and death of the one and only Yusaku Matsuda, with lots of scenes from his movies and TV-series.
